My friend, a retired Math teacher has two children. The son is in the US while the daughter in NZ.
I came to know of her about five years ago. When I knew her through the church, she was already living in a very depressive mood. She was moving from place to place due to her instability.
After an accident her children put her into a prestigous nursing home and when she came to know of the fees incurred she forced herself to be dischared. Due to her incapability of living by herself, her children again put her into another cheaper nursing home.
After three weeks there, she went berserk due to the confinement at the home and had to be admitted to a hospital.
I think if she has a gun now she will use on herself.

Road Bully
My neighbour had deliberately closed the road on his land for almost four months and this had greatly affected the livelihood of the surrounding landowners. The farmers and the elders of the village held a meeting with him to open the road but he had refused and cited that he needed to carry out some earthworks on his land.
Due to this the farmers had to use an alternative dangerous road and when I heard that my brother had fallen, I then decided that we should use the power of the Land Office and when he came to know of this, he immediately paved the road with mud that very morning. Due to this current rainy season, I do not know how long the mud road will last!
Meantime, the farmers had decided to make an application to the Government for a Collection Road of Way permanently to prevent any further harrassment from him and his family.

Ecumenical & Interreligous Ministry
This inaugural Peninsular Malaysian Conference is mooted by the Archdiocese Ministry of Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs. This Conference hopes to be a common platform bringing together organizations and individuals who are already engaged in or are interested to start interreligious and ecumenical programmes. It was held at the Archdiocese Pastoral Centre, Kuala Lumpur from 10 - 11 October 2009 with a capacity of about 100 delegates from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
This event was officiated by His Grace, Murphy Pakiam of K L Archdiocese and I was part of the organizing team.

Dependency On Foreign Maids
Nowadays, many people have become too dependent on fulltime foreign maids.
I come from a very large family of thirteen and I wonder how did my mother manage without a maid?
Every year about a month to Chinese New Year we would all be busy preparing goodies, spring cleaning, decorating, etc and we all worked as a team. We didn’t have a washing machine but we had plenty of free spring water. My mother would scrub and scrub and we would help her rinse.
We have a big garden and with many types of herbs and vegetables for consumption and we also produced our own cooking oil. We were already enjoying organic food without realization and today you have to pay hefty price for it.
When it came to cooking, everyone had their part to play one would be whisking a big bowl of eggs, another chopping, pounding, grinding and so forth. My father, the “fireman” would control the heat from the burning firewood.
Though I was a career woman I was determined to cook at least a meal for my family each day. Thanks to my husband’s paternal grandmother who had helped us look after the kids while we were at work.
When our youngest was about six she passed away and we had to send him to a babysitter and when he was eight we taught him how to be home alone whilst his two elder brothers were at school. I was lucky that my office was near my home and during my lunch break, I would go home to prepare his lunch.
If every member of the family is willing to sacrifice a little of their time for some housework then those in real need for a fulltime foreign maid would not be grossly deprived.
Enjoy your housework and do not forget to praise yourself for a job well done!

Terence And Julia
My second son got registered on 11 September 2009 at Maju Junction Registrar, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur.
Europe Trip
An ex colleague, Angie and myself decided to take a pilgrimage tour that wasn't to Europe from 17-29 Sept 09 organized by Tom Fernandes from Johore Bahru.
Tom, 79 years old was definitely not fit to be a tour guide anymore. During the tour someone was lost at some point of time due to poor instructions by our guide and the local guide and she had to fork out 65 euro for taxi fare to the hotel and another 40 euro for enquiry service and our tour guide didn't even have the courtesy enquire about her wellbeing.
In my opinion, our tour guide was incompetent and insensitive but he was very boastful about himself. Declaring how successful his career and business were and a big fat acccount in the bank but he failed to refund us the portage tip of 1 euro which was not provided and he pocketed the refund from the hotel. What a dishonest man.
Airfare RM10,148 with meals and lodging minus some lunches while on the road. Boarded Air Asia to Singapore. Spent a few hours with my son and his family. Flew to Amsterdam later that night and connect to Rome to arrive at about 9.30am. It was autum. Rome was warm like Malaysia, La Spezia was a bit cold in the night. Lourdes was very nice. Spain, Burgos, Portugal, Lisbon, Amsterdam cold at night but the day can be cool to warm.
No jet lag because slept most of the time in the plane and arrive at 3.30pm at Singapore and connect back to KL to arrive about 8pm.

A Philanthropist
During one of my trips to Singapore, my aunt, a very smart businesswoman cum lawyer took me to visit a Home named Ju Eng.
The founder of the home was Elder Ang Oon Hue, BBM (1911-1998). In the 1940s he bought a 2 acre freehold land and built a primary school for the benefit of the children living in the vicinity. In 1995 this land was handed over the Singapore Government for conversion into a home for the poor senior citizens, elderly, frail and the sick.
At the home, we found this cute and happy lady at the piano.
She is so alive despite her disability and entertained us with a few beautiful Christmas numbers.
